About the author

Rogoz Gheorghe, known in literary circles by the pen name George Rogoz, was born in September 1950 in Pitești, to parents from Buzău. He spent the early years of his childhood, between the ages of three and ten, in Transylvania, in Covasna County — an experience that would enrich his inner world and his sensitivity towards people and nature.

He attended primary and secondary school in the town of Buzău, and in 1974 graduated from the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest. After several specialisation courses, he worked in the field of international relations until 1992. Between 1980 and 1985 he served as cultural and press attaché at the Romanian Embassy in Bern, Switzerland.

From 1993 to 1997 he was director of the company Laser Computer România, and between 1999 and 2002 he worked in Germany as a German-language translator. In 2005 he withdrew from professional life and settled in the countryside, choosing to devote himself to writing.

He has published science-fiction novels, volumes of SF short stories and volumes of poetry, with others in preparation.

His writing explores, with lucidity and a fine irony, the human condition, humankind’s relationship with nature, the particular bond between people and dogs, and the social and political realities of our time. The Romanian village, with its beauties and its sufferings, holds a place apart in his work — a constant source of inspiration, and a world for which the author retains a deep affection.
